In accordance with DPR 447 (5/10/2001), published on Ordinary Supplement n. 282/L of the Official Gazette n.300 (28 December 2001), art. 5, sub-section 2.4 & 2.9 with procedures writed on art.8 enclosed B2, sub-section 1, letter B, n.1.

Moreover, with the Communications Ministerial Decree 8 July 2002, the frequency assignment for PMR-446 radios make something official, that therefore can be used on 446.000 to 450.000 frequencies (see note 101C at the end of the document) with only € 12,00 without limit of mumbers of transceiver (c/c n. 425207 in favour of Tesoreria Provinciale dello Stato). Despite their low power, they cover a minimum range of 200 metres in built-up areas where there is considerable interference, and up to a maximum of 2 km in open areas, urban and suburban streets, roads and motorways in general.
All these transceivers feature very compact dimensions, are simple to operate and can be used by anyone in any situation:

- hobby
- sporting
- professional
 
Since 1st January 2002 all LPDs transceivers can be used freely according to the Presidential Decree 447 of 5 October 2001, art.6, par.1 letter Q, published in the Ordinary Supplement no. 282/L of the Official Gazette no. 300 of 28 December 2001. Such free use makes them exempt from both the payment of the envisaged tax, as well as from presentation of the start of activity registration. However, the free use of there transceivers is limited to first 20 channels, as specified in the Piano Nazionale di Ripartizione delle Frequenze, note 100A (at the end of document)

In the nautical field these transceivers can also be used for emergency communication between small vessels and fixed stations installed at yacht club headquarters, for example, and to provide service connections between different points of the same ship.
But that’s not all! In practice there’s no limit to their use: bathing facilities, sports centres, on the beach, for fishing, at the lake, in the mountains, wherever you need to communicate in a simple, effective and fun way!
